The SMB is the samba client that runs on both windows pc and mac OS X computers for file and printer sharing. I'm running OS X 10.2 (Jaguar) and it lets me share Mac folders with windows PC by EDITING an Mac user account under system preferences and checking an option at the bottom that says 'Allow user to login from Windows'. The Pair to Mac dialog displays a list of all previously-connected and currently-available Mac build hosts: Select a Mac in the list. Enter your username and password. The first time you connect to any particular Mac, you are prompted to enter your username and password for that machine. On the Windows computer, open File Explorer, click Network, and locate the Mac you want to connect to. Double-click the Mac, then enter the account name and password for the user account. It may take a moment for the Windows computer to show that the Mac is on the network.
In Mac OS X, you can connect to servers that use the AppleShare, SMB, WebDAV, and NFS protocols.
